Fire Safety Law
FirePrevent can provide advice and assistance to companies that have been targeted by the Fire Service.
The Fire Service is the enforcing authority for the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and can issue Prohibition, Enforcement and Alterations notices on buildings where they deem fire safety defects are present.
We can liaise with the Fire Service on our clients behalf to ensure they are not being disproportionate in their findings. Where possible we can offer alternative fire safety solutions that are more cost effective and less invasive.
Our recent projects
Merlin Wharf, Leicester
A purpose-built residential development of 384 private apartments. We have completed a Type 3 fire risk assessment annually at the development since it was constructed, including a pre-occupation fire risk assessment following Winvic completing construction in 2021.
The Bear, London
A mixed use development consisting of a church building and a residential building containing private residential apartments. A detailed fire safety strategy was produced to meet the functional requirements of the Building Regulations 2010. Radiation calculations were performed for the open plan apartment designs to ensure that occupants would be exposed to conditions commensurate or improved to that of prescriptive requirements in a fire.
23 High Petergate, York
A Grade I listed building, converted to a boutique hotel in York city centre. A detailed fire safety strategy was produced to meet the functional requirements of the Building Regulations 2010. Due to the Grade I listed status of the building, there were challenges with what could be achieved architecturally. A pressurisation system was designed for the main stair to ensure that smoke would not prevent guests from evacuating and allow fire-fighters to easily access the building
